Job Requirements of Medical Office Assistant – Cancer Care Center:
BACKGROUND:
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- 3 years secretarial. clerical experience in a medical or business office preferred
- None required
- Positive interpersonal communication skills, computer literate, medical terminology, medical coding, ability to operate office equipment (typewriter, adding machine, fax, copier, telephone, credit card terminal, and computer), bookkeeping and filing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
As a Medical Office Assistant, you will provide a variety of clerical duties in support of the medical office. Greet patients, answer telephone, schedule appointments, register patients, make copies of insurance information, obtain treatment authorization from managed care plans and applicable government payers, verify medical necessity prior to diagnostic testing, and assemble medical chart with all necessary forms. Receive, sort, and distribute mail. Post all outgoing mail. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adheres to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.
